Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE.
  • Inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine serviceability and proper operation.
  • Servicing equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air.
  • Disassembles and reassembles malfunctioning GSE accessories and components.
  • Removes, disassembles, repairs, cleans, and reinstalls GSE components.
  • Stencils and marks GSE per publications; stores, handles, labels.
  • Disposes of hazardous materials and waste per regulations.
  • Operates towing vehicles and maintains vehicle records.
  • Maintains equipment records and provides dispatch support for GSE.

Job description

THIS POSITION IS PENDING CONTRACT AWARD
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Worker makes repairs to GSE following orders of a higher-grade worker, troubleshooting malfunctions of GSE using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools, prepares GSE for storage and transportation, uses automated maintenance data systems to maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions, maintains external fuel and grounding systems.

DUTIES:
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE.
  • Inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
  • Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air.
  • Disassembles and assembles malfunctioning GSE accessories and components.
  • In addition, the Ground Support Equipment Worker removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls GSE components and accessories.
  • Stencils and marks GSE in accordance with technical publications, stores, handles, labels, uses.
  • Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
  • Operates, cleans, inspects, and services GSE towing vehicles; maintains vehicle records.
  • Maintains and updates paper and electronic equipment records, provides dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of two years as a mechanic performing inspection maintenance, repair and modification of powered equipment.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.

  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
  • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, APU, etc.
