Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer for Starlink to design, build, and test electronics for ground antenna systems. The role sits at the intersection of electrical, mechanical, thermal, software, and antenna engineering to ensure robust performance under harsh environments at a global scale.

You’ll drive continuous improvements, perform failure analysis, and work with engineers across disciplines to deliver high‑performance hardware for a world‑spanning satellite network.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or other STEM discipline.
  • 1+ years of hardware development, failure analysis, or reliability engineering.
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or related field is a plus.
  • Experience with RF, electronics, and mechanical design and analysis.
  • Experience with test equipment and measurement techniques (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma and root cause analysis methods.
  • Understanding of metrology and measurement uncertainty.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute environmental, RF, mechanical, and electrical test solutions for ground antenna electronics and payload.
  • Perform detailed failure analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Select COTS hardware or design PCBAs to measure signals and withstand flight-like loads.
  • Provide hands-on support through qualification, production ramp, and field rollout.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, software, test engineering, supply chain, and silicon design teams.
