Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. in Redondo Beach, CA, seeks a Ground Software System I&T Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to join the Western Region Software Engineering Directorate onsite in Redondo Beach. Responsibilities include design, integration, and testing of ground software with cloud-based components and operator-facing tools.

The role requires a STEM degree with extensive software experience and the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience or Master’s degree with 3+ years or Ph.D. with 1+ year of stated experience.
• Candidate must have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
• Experience with cloud-based software systems.
• Experience with software design and/or software systems modeling tools.
• Demonstrated ability to debug, troubleshoot, and integrate large-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Support both Software Systems Engineering design and Software Segment Integration & Test (I&T).
• Serve as a key interface with external stakeholders, representing Northrop Grumman in meetings with customers and external partners.
• Design, develop, and integrate mission-critical ground software, including cloud-based backend systems (e.g., Python) and operator-facing front-end tools (e.g., ReactJS).
• Develop modular, reusable architectures that reduce code footprint while improving maintainability and scalability.
• Apply strong problem-solving skills to understand and address complex technical concepts.
• Prepare charts, present data, and provide recommendations to internal teams and customers, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Manage tasking and mentor team members across multiple program schedules with tight deadlines.
