Job summary

UNC Nash Hospitals, part of Nash UNC Health Care, seeks a full-time EMT-Paramedic for the Specialty Care Transport team. Provides safe ground transport, offers basic and advanced life support, and works under RN supervision in the ED.

Qualifications

• Two years experience as EMT-P in pre-hospital or transport setting.
• Excellent driving and customer service skills.
• Willing to learn new skills and perform duties under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Monitors patient condition during ground transport to provide optimal stabilization.
• Performs appropriate interventions during transport according to UNC Nash Specialty Care Protocols within NC EMS guidance.
• Monitors communication equipment and communicates with dispatch, medical staff, family, and stakeholders; ensures information is collected and treatment administered.
• Documents patients' status, delivery of care and evaluation of response to care.
• Contacts physicians for guidance and follows treatment protocols as described by UNC Nash Specialty Care Transport Medical Direction.
• Operates medical and mechanical equipment; restocks supplies as needed.
• Obtains direction regarding further care from medical staff and delivers emergency care (CPR, oxygen, bandaging, splinting) as required.
• Participates in plan of care for acutely ill patients requiring transport from referring institutions.
• Performs EMT-P duties in ED during transport downtime when staffing.
