Job summary

SpartanNash’s South Bend location is seeking an Assistant Store Director to support the Store Director and help manage all areas of the store. You will ensure staffing, training, and efficient operations while monitoring purchasing, stocking, payroll, and expenses.

You’ll engage in financial planning, supervise staff, train teammates, and maintain a customer-friendly, well-presented department, with emphasis on product knowledge and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in business admin or related field.
• Three years in a retail grocery environment with increasing responsibility.
• One year in a supervisory/lead role, preferably retail.
• Proficient with computers (email, spreadsheets, etc.).
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and interpret documents.
• Strong accounting/basic bookkeeping skills.
• Ability to interpret/analyze financials and develop budgets.
• Ability to delegate, direct and implement plans.
• Detail oriented with customer focus.

Responsibilities

• Regular inspections of all areas with feedback to managers.
• Review reports, take action, and communicate information as needed.
• Engage in financial planning including budgeting, staffing/payroll, and upkeep.
• Communicate and work with SpartanNash personnel.
• Train others to perform department activities and functions.
• Manage selection, scheduling and supervision of staff.
• greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, customer-friendly department.
• Familiarity with all products; know price, taste, prep, use, etc.
