Job summary

Smart & Final is hiring a Service Clerk for our San Jose location. The role involves maintaining carts, assisting customers with purchases and loading to their cars, and price checking on products. The position requires customer service skills and ability to handle light lifting.

Starting rate is $19.70 per hour, with opportunities to contribute to store upkeep and customer experience in a fast-paced grocery setting.

Qualifications

• Read and write English, interact with general public and co‑workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain carts and assist customers with purchases and loading to their cars as requested.
• Check retail prices on shelf for check stand personnel.
• Return merchandise to proper shelf and face items on aisles.
• Monitor cleanliness of store entrance and restrooms; sweep, mop and restock.
• Provide assistance to customers and maintenance of the parking lot.
