Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keep the Grocery department well stocked, organized, and appealing to meet customer demands and maximize sales. Build displays to drive incremental sales. Stock and rotate merchandise to ensure freshness. Keep products within easy customer reach. Store excess merchandise according to backroom organization guidelines.
2. Smile and greet customers, answer customer questions, and help resolve customer concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner.
3. Apply proper stocking techniques to ensure products are properly located on shelves, and ensure merchandise is in saleable condition with correct prices and signs.
4. Assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of power jack or hand jack (if properly trained – training provided).
5. Handle damaged or discontinued items according to company policy. Remove product that cannot be sold.
6. Responsible for general sanitation in the department. Follow cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc., are well maintained, clean, and meet all health and OSHA requirements. Properly dispose of trash.
7. Maintain productivity standards, work methods, and standards and control shrinkage. Comply with security regulations and policies. Put out stock at an acceptable rate as determined by company standards.
8. Assist with baling cardboard or other related duties (if properly trained. Training provided).
9. Ensure smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. Responsible to continuously improve job performance.
10. Utilize all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, company-sponsored footwear, etc.
11. May be called upon to assist in other departments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). No prior experience required.
