Job summary

Brookshire Grocery Company is seeking a Department Manager to drive sales and profits in the grocery department. You will lead a team, manage inventory, and ensure quality and compliance with food safety standards.

The role requires the ability to train staff, schedule shifts, and maintain high standards of customer service in a fast-paced retail environment. Evening, weekend, and holiday hours are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 2+ years related experience or equivalent.
• Manager Food Safety certification required.
• Food Handler certification required.
• AML certification required.
• HIPAA certification required.
• TABC/LACT/AATC certification where applicable.
• Ability to operate pallet jack and forklift.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead department staff including interviewing, hiring, training and performance management.
• Plan, assign, and direct work; address complaints and resolve problems.
• Review sales history and promotions; manage inventory levels and losses.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and date rotation.
• Promote customer service and sales through displays and suggestive selling.
• Maintain stock and ensure accurate ordering and paperwork.
• Open/close the store and ensure adequate staff and safety procedures.
