Job summary

Safeway in Parker, AZ is seeking a Grocery Department Manager to lead day‑to‑day store operations and champion exceptional customer service. You will direct the Grocery Department, supervise and train staff, manage inventory and pricing, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

You will also partner with the Store Director to drive sales and margins while maintaining strong vendor relations.

Qualifications

• Requires extensive retail background with prior management experience in retail operations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, leadership and interpersonal abilities.
• Understanding of profit and loss statements and ability to drive sales and margins.

Responsibilities

• Directs and controls Grocery Department operations, including planning, organizing and supervising staff.
• Trains and supervises department personnel, ensuring adherence to Company policies and procedures.
• Monitors inventory, pricing, merchandising, and product rotation; maintains back room organization and in-stock conditions.
• Responds to customer concerns, resolves complaints, and supports store goals and service standards.
• Schedules department staff to ensure adequate coverage and service levels; leads hiring and performance management.
