Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and uphold the Customer 1st strategy while living the core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. You will answer questions, stock and label merchandise, check freshness and dates, follow food safety rules, and help customers find products and make suggestions.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering product questions.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of specials.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates; take action when needed.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide fresh products.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude throughout shifts.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers; maintain temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions; notify management.
• Inspect equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Notify management of accidents or safety risks.
• Report all safety risks and illegal activity.
• Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
