Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an experienced Store Manager on Duty to oversee the Food Department and overall store operations. You will ensure inventory accuracy, merchandise presentation, and exceptional customer service while maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities include leading staff, training associates, managing cash controls, and executing company policies to protect assets and drive store performance.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform mathematical calculations, percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to perform cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Knowledge of company policies and procedures as outlined in SOP manual and Employee Handbook.
• Ability and willingness to obtain required certifications in food handling.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Food Department and total store when designated as Manager on duty.
• Authorize refunds and overrides; count register; deposit money.
• Ensure cash accountability and security practices across store operations.
• Lead training for employees as directed by Store Manager/Asst Manager.
• Train associates in stocking, presentation, and safe food handling.
• Supervise scheduling and ensure adequate coverage.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and perform markdowns as needed.
• Oversee merchandise presentation, pricing, signage, and planograms.
• Direct new merchandise flow and store layout for efficiency.
