Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies is seeking an Assistant Department Manager for the Grocery Department at 4353 W Bethany Home Rd, Glendale, AZ. You will assist in planning, staffing, training, and directing associates to deliver prompt, courteous service and safe, ethical operations.

You will oversee merchandising, ordering, pricing, and display activities, while ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Willing to work flexible mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
• Calmly handle stressful situations with customers and associates.
• Understand key components of department operations (staffing, merchandising, ordering, inventory).
• Experience with production, merchandising and customer service in grocery.

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Manager in organizing work and staffing for the Grocery Department.
• Train and schedule associates to ensure prompt, courteous service.
• Use CAO to manage ordering and balance on hand in the Department Manager’s absence.
• Perform pricing, display, signage, and product rotation to maintain quality standards.
• Implement company programs and ensure dress, sanitation and safety policies are followed.
• Help manage department budgets, goals and results, and communicate with staff and customers.
• Maintain equipment and floors to safety and cleanliness standards.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements to the team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
