Kroger is seeking a capable Assistant Department Manager for the Grocery Department in Chandler, AZ. You will help plan, organize, staff, train and direct associates to deliver prompt, courteous service and maximize store sales.

The role emphasizes safety, ethics and adherence to company policies while supporting budgets and department goals. Responsibilities include staffing, scheduling, CAO-based ordering, pricing and merchandising, and promoting company initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in organizing work, filling staffing needs, and training and scheduling associates to ensure prompt courteous service.
• Respond to customer and associate needs, complaints, requests, and questions professionally.
• Use CAO to manage ordering and balance on hand when the Department Manager is absent.
• Price and display merchandise, maintain signage and proper space allocation.
• Engage in merchandising techniques, customer service, product presentation and promotions.
• Follow company programs and policies, including dress code, safety and a harassment-free environment.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Communicate with customers and associates to create a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment, facilities and grocery areas to sanitary standards.
• Promote and implement company initiatives and process improvements to direct reports.
• Demonstrate ability to manage people and workload effectively.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
