Job summary

Kroger is seeking an Assistant Department Manager in the Grocery Department in Tooele, UT to assist in planning, organizing, staffing, training and directing associates, while delivering excellent customer service and safe, ethical store operations.

You will use CAO to order merchandise, manage inventory, price and display products, monitor signage and rotation, and support budgets and goals with a focus on merchandising, promotions and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in planning, organizing, staffing, training and directing Grocery Department associates.
• Perform production and customer service functions to maximize store sales and profits safely and ethically.
• Respond to customer/associate comments, complaints, requests, accidents and questions in a courteous, professional manner.
• Use Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) to manage ordering and ensure proper accounting of stock.
• Pricing and displaying merchandise; maintain signage, rotation, freshness and space allocation.
• Engage and counsel associates in merchandising techniques, customer service and promotions.
• Follow company programs and policies, including dress code, grooming, sanitation and harassment/discrimination avoidance.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results to the Department Manager.
• Communicate with associates and customers to project a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment and facilities safely and properly.
• Keep floor, shelves and grocery areas clean and sanitary.
• Promote and implement company initiatives to direct reports.
• Demonstrate ability to manage people and workloads.
• Perform any and all duties as assigned.
