Job summary

Kroger in Roanoke, VA seeks an Assistant Department Manager to organize work, staff, train, and direct Grocery Department associates while maximizing store sales and profits safely and ethically. You will ensure service excellence, manage ordering via CAO, merchandising, pricing, and adherence to company policies.

You’ll support budgeting, communicate with staff and customers, and lead process improvements while maintaining product quality and safety standards.

• Grocery retail or backup manager experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist Dept Manager with organizing work, staffing and training.
• Provide prompt, courteous customer service.
• Use CAO to manage ordering and keep stock balance.
• Price, display, and rotate merchandise with proper signage.
• Coach associates in merchandising and promotions.
• Ensure compliance with dress code, sanitation and policies.
• Provide input on budgets, goals and results.
• Communicate with customers and staff to foster a positive image.
• Maintain equipment, facilities and sanitary standards.
• Keep floors and shelves clean and well stocked.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements.
• Demonstrate ability to manage people and workloads.
