Job summary

Kroger Co. in Pickerington, OH is hiring for a Grocery Department Supervisor/Assistant Manager role on-site.

You will assist the Department Manager in organizing staffing, training, and directing associates to provide prompt, courteous service while maximizing store sales and profits in a safe, ethical manner. You will engage in pricing, merchandising, signage, and promotions, while ensuring policy compliance and a positive customer experience.

Qualifications

• Understand key components of department operations (staffing, merchandising, inventory)
• Knowledge of employment laws/regulations and OSHA compliance
• Operate power machinery and tools (e.g., balers, label guns)
• Grocery retail experience and/or backup manager experience
• Past work record showing dependability and integrity

Responsibilities

• Assist Dept Manager in organizing work and staffing; train and schedule associates for prompt, courteous service
• Respond to customer/associate comments, complaints, requests and questions professionally
• Use CAO to manage ordering quantities and track receipts and balances
• Price and display merchandise; ensure signage, rotation, freshness, and space allocation
• Promote merchandising techniques, customer service, product presentation and promotions
• Ensure adherence to company policies including dress, grooming, sanitation, and harassment avoidance
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results
• Communicate with associates and customers to create a positive impression
• Maintain equipment and facilities according to company policies
• Keep floor, shelves and grocery areas clean and sanitary
• Support company initiatives and process improvements with direct reports
• Demonstrate ability to manage people and workloads
• Perform all duties as assigned
