Job summary

Safeway in the United States seeks a Grocery Department Supervisor to assist the Grocery Manager and Third Person in daily operations. You will oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, and merchandising, and support in-store training and supervision to ensure excellent customer service.

You will help implement merchandising policies, control shrink, and maintain compliance with safety and policies while stepping in to direct the store in the absence of senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to lead and develop people.
• Ability to manage day-to-day Grocery Department operations with minimal supervision.
• A solid understanding of weights, measures, pricing, and merchandising principles.

Responsibilities

• Champion customer service programs and resolve customer complaints.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, rotating and merchandising.
• Interface with Store Director and Managers in absence of leadership to direct operations.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, security and other policies and take corrective action when needed.
• Open/close store duties and back-up cashier tasks as required.
• Perform duties with honesty, accuracy and integrity.
