Job summary

Kroger in Macon, GA seeks a frontline associate to create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. You will assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals and maintain a safe, clean environment that makes customers want to return.

You will answer questions, promote products, follow food safety guidelines, and support everyday store operations with a positive, helpful attitude.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.
• Retail experience is a plus.
• Second language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Know products in the department and respond to questions with product suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of grocery specials.
• Check product quality and freshness, review sell-by dates and take action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide fresh products ordered by customers.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and report needed repairs to the department or store manager.
• Notify management of accidents involving customers or employees.
• Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activity (theft/robbery).
• Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
