Responsibilities

• Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items they want or need.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates.
• Provide customers with ordered fresh and non-perishable grocery items.
• Recommend items to ensure customers get products they want or need.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain logs.
• Gain knowledge of products sold and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued.
• Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and report items in need of repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts in a professional, non-confrontational manner.
• Maintain honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
