Job summary

The Kroger Company is hiring for a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger to help create an outstanding customer experience in our stores. You will bag groceries at checkout, assist customers with loading bags, and keep aisles and parking areas clean and safe.

You’ll follow safety and food-handling guidelines and support store operations as needed. We value honesty, integrity, and customer service, offering flexible part-time roles and opportunities to grow within the Kroger Family of Companies.

• Retail Experience is preferred but not necessary

Responsibilities

• Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bag groceries at checkout for customers
• strive for at least five items in the bag while ensuring contents are not damaged
• follow best practices for bagging items in various types of bags
• assist in removing customer's merchandise from bottom of bascart for checkout
• offer to help customers with loading bags into their car
• perform basic shelf conditioning
• inform customers of grocery specials
• return merchandise to store shelves
• gather bascarts and return them to designated areas
• clean spills, collect and pick up trash inside store and parking lot
• clean all areas inside and outside of store
• handle and assemble seasonal merchandise
• understand the store's layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers
• reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures
• adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
• practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management
• create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated
• adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines
• ability to work cooperatively in high paced environments
• ability to manage conflict in a respectful manner
• act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
• follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
• provide support with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
• must be able to perform essential functions with/without accommodation
