Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently; understand the Point of Sale system, and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Rotate all merchandise according to code dating policies and check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell by dates and take appropriate action.
- Promote trust and respect among team members.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions regarding products sold.
- Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
- Greet, engage, and assist customers.
- Inform customers of grocery specials.
- Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
- Report product ordering, shipping & pricing discrepancies to store management.
- Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and/or overages; work honestly to control loss.
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, Fireworks).
- Stay current with ads and promotions.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers; keep temperature logs.
- Reinforce safety programs; identify and report unsafe conditions.
- Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs needed.
- Report customer or employee accidents.
- Follow all laws and company policies.
- Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling carts, bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, and repetitive motions.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Basic math knowledge.
- Complete cashier training program.
- Memorize produce and sale items.
- Effective communication and reading skills.
- Must be 18 or older.
Desired Previous Job Experience:
- Customer service experience.
- Retail experience.
