Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to fully complete the cashier training program
  • Ability to memorize produce items and sale items
  • Effective communication and reading skills
  • Must be 18 years old

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Customer service experience
  • Retail experience

Essential Job Functions:

  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently; understand the Point of Sale system, and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
  • Rotate all merchandise according to code dating policies and check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take appropriate actions.
  • Promote trust and respect among team members.
  • Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
  • Greet, engage, and assist customers.
  • Inform customers of grocery specials.
  • Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
  • Report product ordering, shipping, and pricing discrepancies to store management.
  • Adhere to company's cash handling limits and work to control loss.
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, Fireworks).
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep logs.
  • Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
  • Inspect equipment and report repairs.
  • Report customer or employee accidents.
  • Comply with all laws and company guidelines.
  • Physical demands include standing, lifting, pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, manual dexterity, and repetitive motions.
  • Work cooperatively in high-paced, stressful environments.
  • Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
  • Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
