Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the Point of Sale system, handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
• Rotate all merchandise according to code dating policies, check product quality for freshness, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate actions.
• Promote trust and respect among team members.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products.
• Maintain knowledge of products sold, respond to questions, and make suggestions.
• Greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Inform customers of grocery specials.
• Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
• Report discrepancies in product ordering, shipping, and pricing to management.
• Adhere to company limits on cash shortages/overages and work to control loss.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items like alcohol, tobacco, and fireworks.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Follow all food safety regulations, maintain proper temperatures, and keep logs.
• Reinforce safety protocols, inspect equipment, and report unsafe conditions or accidents.
• Follow all laws and company policies.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs., and other manual tasks.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
• Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Basic math knowledge.
• Complete cashier training program.
• Memorize produce and sale items.
• Effective communication and reading skills.
• Must be 18 or older.

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Customer service experience.
• Retail experience.
