Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane; understand the Point of Sale system and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
• Rotate all merchandise according to code dating policies and check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
• Promote trust and respect among team members.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions regarding products sold.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold; respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
• Greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Inform customers of grocery specials.
• Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
• Report product ordering, shipping, and pricing discrepancies to store management.
• Adhere to company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work to control loss.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, Fireworks).
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers; keep temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures; identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
• Report customer or employee accidents.
• Follow all applicable laws and company guidelines.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Knowledge of basic math.
• Complete the cashier training program.
• Memorize produce and sale items.
• Effective communication and reading skills.
• Must be 18 years old.

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Customer service experience.
• Retail experience.
