Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the Point of Sale system, handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Rotate all merchandise according to code dating policies, check product quality for freshness, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
- Promote trust and respect among team members.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products.
- Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to customer inquiries with suggestions.
- Greet, engage, and assist customers.
- Inform customers of grocery specials.
- Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
- Report discrepancies in product ordering, shipping, and pricing to management.
- Adhere to company policies on cash shortages, overages, and restricted sale items (e.g., alcohol, tobacco, fireworks).
- Stay current with advertisements and promotions.
- Follow all food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, logging temperatures as required.
- Ensure safety procedures are followed, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
- Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
- Report customer or employee accidents.
- Comply with all applicable laws and company policies.
- Perform physical tasks such as standing, lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing carts, bending, twisting, and climbing.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment, manage conflicts professionally, and act with honesty and integrity.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic math.
- Ability to complete cashier training.
- Ability to memorize produce and sale items.
- Effective communication and reading skills.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Desired Previous Job Experience:
- Customer service experience.
