Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Grocery Clerk helps customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
2. Informs customers of food specials and recommends grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need.
3. Checks product quality to ensure freshness, reviews "sell by" dates, and takes appropriate action.
4. Provides customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products that they have ordered.
5. Recommends grocery items to customers to meet their needs.
6. Labels, stocks, and inventories department merchandise.
7. Reports product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
8. Stays current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
9. Adheres to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
10. Maintains proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keeps temperature logs.
11. Gains and maintains knowledge of products sold within the department and responds to questions and suggestions.
12. Creates an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by engaging with them about products.
13. Reinforces safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
14. Practices preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
15. Notifies management of customer or employee accidents.
16. Works cooperatively in high-paced, stressful environments.
17. Manages conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
18. Acts with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
19. Follows directions and seeks assistance when resolving issues.
20. Supports and assists customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
21. Performs essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
