Responsibilities include:

  • Informing customers of food specials and recommending grocery items to meet their needs.
  • Checking product quality for freshness and reviewing 'sell by' dates.
  • Providing customers with ordered products, both fresh and non-perishable.
  • Labeling, stocking, and inventory management within the department.
  • Reporting discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the manager.
  • Staying current with ads and promotions.
  • Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, with logs.
  • Gaining knowledge of products and responding to customer questions and suggestions.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel valued and appreciated.
  • Reinforcing safety programs and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Practicing preventive maintenance and reporting repair needs.
  • Reporting customer or employee accidents.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced, stressful environment.
  • Managing conflicts in a nonconfrontational manner.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking help when needed to resolve issues.
  • Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
