Responsibilities include:

• Informing customers of food specials and recommending grocery items to ensure they get what they want and need.
• Checking product quality for freshness, reviewing 'sell by' dates, and taking appropriate actions.
• Providing customers with ordered fresh and non-perishable grocery products.
• Labeling, stocking, and inventory management of department merchandise.
• Reporting product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Staying current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keeping temperature logs.
• Gaining knowledge of products sold within the department to answer questions and offer suggestions.
• Creating a welcoming environment where customers feel valued by engaging with them about products.
• Reinforcing safety programs by following safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Practicing preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed.
• Reporting customer or employee accidents to management.
• Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Managing conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
• Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Following directions and seeking assistance when needed to resolve issues.
