Responsibilities include:
- Informing customers of food specials and recommending grocery items to meet their needs.
- Checking product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates, and taking appropriate action.
- Providing customers with ordered grocery products, both fresh and non-perishable.
- Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
- Reporting product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Staying current with present, upcoming, seasonal, and promotional advertisements.
- Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keeping temperature logs.
- Gaining and maintaining product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
- Creating a welcoming environment by answering questions and making product suggestions.
- Reinforcing safety programs, complying with safety procedures, and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Practicing preventive maintenance and notifying management of equipment issues.
- Reporting customer or employee accidents promptly.
- Working cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Managing conflicts in a reasonable, non-confrontational manner.
- Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Following directions and seeking assistance when needed to resolve issues.
- Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
