Job summary

Hy-Vee is hiring a Checker to be the friendly last face customers see. You will operate the register, assist shoppers, and help ensure every visit ends on a positive note. Training is provided, and there is a strong emphasis on accuracy, safety, and teamwork.

This hourly role requires you to handle diverse payment types, assist with promotions, stock and organize the checkout area, and support store operations as needed in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• No education or experience required; training provided.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations accurately.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and provide friendly service.
• Operate the cash register and process payments (cash, card, checks, coupons, WIC).
• Count back change and handle receipts, refunds, and credits as needed.
• Follow guidelines for WIC, food stamps, tobacco, liquor, and lottery sales.
• Stock, face, rotate merchandise, and assist customers with items.
• Maintain a clean register area and assist in promotions and events.
