Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Grinder to start immediately. Training will be provided to safely operate a grinder and remove excess metal from manufactured parts to blueprint specifications and shop order instructions.

Responsibilities include visual and tactile inspection, removing flashes, and using surface-grinding tools to finish parts while maintaining counts and meeting production requirements. On-the-job training will be provided and additional duties may be assigned by the department

Qualifications

• Wear proper Personal Protection Equipment at all times.
• Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
• English (reading, writing, and verbal comprehension).
• Display good depth perception for accurate finishing and defect discrimination.
• Must be able to work overtime to meet deadlines.
• Ability to frequently lift parts weighing up to 30 lbs and move heavier items with assistance.
• Ability to apply up to 50 lbs of hand-to-part force during cutting or machining.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a grinder to remove excess metal and bring parts to blueprint specifications and shop orders.
• Inspect parts visually and by touch to identify flashes and defects.
• Use surface-grinding tools to remove defects and maintain accurate part counts.
• Ensure quality and production requirements are met according to travelers.
• On-the-job training will be provided; perform other duties as directed by the department manager.
