Job summary

Professional Placement Services in the Cleveland area is seeking a Manual Grinder operator to join our manufacturing team. The role will set up and operate centerless grinders, ensure production standards and ISO 9001 compliance, and move finished parts to the next station.

Candidates should have a 1-year certificate and 6 months to 1 year of related experience, be mechanically inclined with solid math skills, and able to read micrometers and calipers. Blueprint reading training is a plus.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
• 6 months to 1 year related experience or training.
• Ability to interpret verbal and written directions.
• Mechanically inclined with strong math skills.
• Read basic measuring devices (micrometers/calipers).
• Blueprint reading course is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up centerless grinder machinery.
• Operate centerless grinder while upholding production standards and ISO 9001 guidelines.
• Inspect product to print, identify flaws, and perform deburring if needed.
• Move completed material to the next workstation.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

The Grinder Operator will:

• Set up centerless grinder machinery.
• Operate centerless grinder machinery upholding and adhering to production standards and ISO 9001 regulations and guidelines.
• Inspect product to print, looking for any flaws and defect of material, including deburring if necessary.
• Move completed material to next workstation.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment.

Required Skills

• Education: One year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
• Experience: 6 months – 1-year related experience or training.
• Ability to interpret and understand verbal and written directions.
• Mechanically inclined with strong math skills.
• Ability to read basic measuring devices, including micrometers, and calipers. Working knowledge of surface footage and feed rates and experienced in calculating feeds and speeds.
• Must successfully complete a blueprint reading course.
