Job summary

Atkore International is hiring a Grinder based in Pendleton, OR. The position pays $18.00 per hour with day and night shifts available. The Grinder will package finished pipe, perform quality checks, and ensure proper crate quantities are used.

Reports to the Shipping Manager and will operate forklifts and other packing equipment. Responsibilities include grinding, extrusion support, and ensuring product quality is maintained throughout the process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Good understanding of basic math required for quick and accurate counting and calculations.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization.
• Shows initiative and adaptability to changing conditions.
• Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift 50 lb unassisted and up to 70 lb occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Grind pipe in the scrap yard and keep scrap pile organized.
• Inform maintenance of grinder equipment status and monitor reclaim system.
• Safely operate forklifts to move equipment and materials.
• Support extrusion tasks and verify product with schedule.
• Assist with quality control duties and line confirmation.

Grinder - $18.00/hr. (Day & Night shifts open)

Sun-Mon-Tues Every other Wednesday 6pm to 6am or 6am to 6pm

Thurs-Fri-Sat Every other Wednesday 6pm to 6am or 6am to 6pm

Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Grinders to be based out of Pendleton location Reporting to the Shipping Manager, the Grinder's primary focus will be to package finished pipe in proper crate quantities. Make sure Quality checks are being done on a regular basis and making sure customers get a quality product.

What you'll do:

• Grinding
  • Grind pipe in the scrap yard for use in the production process system
  • Keep scrap pile organized. Work with Shift Supervisor to identify and regrind sunburned product
  • Inform maintenance of grinder equipment status
  • Responsible for monitoring complete reclaim system
  • Safely operate forklifts to move equipment and materials to and from the production areas, die shop, scales and warehouse
• Extrusion
  • Confirm product with schedule
  • Assist with Quality Control duties
    • Monitor saw cuts
    • Pipe length
    • Bell fit
    • Print line confirmation
    • Chamfer/Bevel
    • Reference line spacing
  • Weigh and transport finished product
  • Cut crate boards to proper lengths
  • Process regrind
  • Proficient with all material handling and packaging devices including forklifts, pallet jacks, banders, and nail guns.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $18.00/hr. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time.
