Job summary

Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital is seeking a Bereavement Counselor to coordinate bereavement programs and deliver counseling and psychosocial assessments for grieving families. The role includes staff and volunteer education, program development, and collaboration with clinical teams to plan appropriate interventions.

The position requires licensure as an RN or Social Worker or a chaplaincy/grief counseling certification, with experience in hospital, hospice, or palliative care

Qualifications

• Two years of bereavement counseling experience in an RN, Social Worker, chaplaincy or clinic grief counseling role.
• Current clinical licensure as an RN or Social Worker, or certification from a nationally recognized chaplaincy or grief counseling program.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate bereavement programs and events for a facility or service line.
• Provide counseling and psychosocial assessment for grieving and soon-to-be bereaved families.
• Educate and train program staff and volunteers, and community members in addressing grief and loss.
• Develop treatment plans for patient/families with input from the clinical team.
• Maintain bereavement database, arrange communications and event planning.
• Prepare clinical and progress reports and participate in team conferences.
• Develop relationships with community bereavement resources.
• Communicate with clients with sensitivity to age, culture, needs, and condition.
