Job summary

Avow in Fort Myers, FL is seeking a Bereavement Counselor to support staff, hospice families, and community members. The role focuses on weekly scheduling, productivity, and flexibility to meet changing client needs, while delivering talks on death, grief, and coping strategies.

The position requires a Master’s Degree in Social Work, LMHC, or LMFT and 2–3 years of related experience; Florida licensure options or intern registrations apply. On-site duties with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Social Work, LMHC, or LMFT from an accredited college or university is required.
• 2–3 years related experience preferred.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: applicable Florida licenses or internship registrations.

Responsibilities

• Provides staff support to coworkers and hospice families.
• Develops and implements grief support groups, in-services, and education classes.
• Performs comprehensive initial bereavement risk assessment and care plan updates.
• Maintains documentation and adheres to AHCA and Joint Commission standards.
• Attends interdisciplinary meetings and supports community engagement initiatives.
• On-call duties including nights and weekends as assigned.
