Job summary

BlueCore Energy in Long Beach, CA seeks a Grid Interconnection & Permitting Lead to own the path from application to energization. You will coordinate with utilities (SCE), agencies, and the Licensing and Certification team to secure permits and ensure interconnection readiness for floating nuclear power plants.

You will shape electrical design inputs, oversee subsea and shoreside cable routing, and develop emergency plans for grid-related events while scaling to additional ports.

Qualifications

• Experience in nuclear or maritime licensing, utility work, or energy project development.
• Understanding of interconnection procedures (CAISO, SCE) and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to build relationships with utilities, regulators, and agencies.
• Knowledge of power systems, protection, relaying, and grid code requirements.
• Experience developing emergency response or continuity plans for critical infrastructure.
• Strong written communication for filings and applications.

Responsibilities

• Own the grid interconnection process from initial application to energization and approvals.
• Build and maintain relationships with utilities, grid operators, port authorities, and agencies as BlueCore Energy's primary contact.
• Interpret regulations and translate them into actionable engineering requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and advise on switchyard, protection, metering, and interconnection needs.
• Lead permitting and design input for subsea and shoreside cable connections between the barge and onshore grid.
• Develop emergency plans for grid disturbances, cable damage, and severe weather events.
• Coordinate with Licensing and Certification, operations, and external responders for preparedness and response.
• Work with business development to plan for future ports and scale interconnection playbooks.
