Job summary

GE Vernova in Boston seeks a Software Consulting Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and development of advanced software platforms and configuration tools for Transmission & Distribution (T&D) systems. This senior role drives grid automation, device orchestration, and intelligent engineering workflows.

You will collaborate with embedded, power systems, and UI/UX teams, engage customers and global product teams, and deliver scalable, secure, and interoperable solutions for protection

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Extensive experience in software engineering, including experience in a technical leadership or software architecture role.

Responsibilities

Define the architecture and evolution of scalable, modular, and secure software platforms for T&D configuration systems.
Define technical strategy and oversee the design cloud-native platforms using modern frameworks (.NET, Java, Python, TypeScript).
Drive the integration IEC 61850 engineering workflows into automated tooling ecosystems.
Ensure cross-functional alignment between firmware, UI/UX, and power systems teams.
Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems, and hardware architects to deliver secure, compliant solutions.
Drive reuse of software components across product lines, fostering platform consistency.
Oversee development and lifecycle management of configuration and commissioning tools for protection and control devices.
Conduct software and architecture reviews, ensure compliance with IEC standards, and manage the SDLC from requirements to deployment.
Partner with architects, systems engineers, and utility customers to deliver customer-centric, technically robust solutions.
Monitor emerging technologies for relevance to the T&D domain and contribute to roadmaps and IP generation.
Mentor software engineers and represent the organization in customer engagements and industry events.
