FACILITY: Greenhouse - 259 S Russell Ave, is home base; work at various locations

LOCATION: Aurora, IL

HOURS: Monday - Friday hours generally 6:30am - 3pm. Some weekends may be necessary and occasional overtime is possible

RATE: $15/hour - minimum starting rate

TYPE: Part-Time/Seasonal

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will enjoy working outdoors, have a general interest in plants and their care. Must be at least 16 years old and have a valid Illinois Driver's License. Good communication skills required with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Ability to work in various weather conditions including high heat and humidity, rain, cold, snow and frigid temps. Must have the ability to use hand tools, garden tools, power equipment and other various machinery. Must be able to perform manual labor including: prolonged kneeling, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, and standing. Must pass a pre-employment physical with drug screen. Must wear proper length shorts or pants and work boots.

DUTIES

Under the direction and supervision of the Horticulture and Natural Areas Supervisor, the Seasonal Greenhouse Maintenance worker must be sufficiently skilled to perform a wide variety of gardening tasks to include planting, weeding, watering, trimming, mulching and pruning. Job includes working independently and as a group. Work to be performed at greenhouse facility, park district buildings and outdoors at various FVPD sites. This is an at-will position.
