Job summary

The Fox Valley Park District is seeking a Forestry Maintenance Worker to assist with tree maintenance and related outdoor work at the Cole Maintenance Shop in Aurora, IL. The role involves planting, trimming, pruning, watering, and inspecting trees and shrubs throughout the district and nurseries.

Applicants should be 18+, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and have a valid IL driver's license. The position is part-time/seasonal with some overtime during planting seasons and a minimum

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid IL driver’s license.
• Experience in grounds maintenance with tree knowledge and chain saws preferred.
• Able to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in all weather including heat/humidity.
• Familiar with maintenance equipment operations and hand/power tools; drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Work on ongoing restoration and maintenance projects under Arboriculture supervision.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Plant, trim, prune, water, and inspect trees and shrubs within the district and nurseries.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• This is an at-will position.

• LOCATION: Aurora, IL
• HOURS: Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3pm; some overtime and weekends may be necessary through planting seasons of Spring and Fall.
• RATE: $16/hour - minimum starting rate
• TYPE: Part-Time/Seasonal

FORESTRY MAINTENANCE WORKER

QUALIFICATIONS

• Individual must be 18 years of age or older with a high school degree or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid IL driver’s license.
• Previous grounds maintenance experience required with preference given to those with tree knowledge and experience with chain saws and other related equipment.
• Individual must be able to lift 50 pounds and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions including high heat and humidity.
• Skilled in maintenance equipment operations and use of various hand and power tools highly desired.
• Required to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.

DUTIES

• Under the supervision of the Manager of Arboriculture, the Tree Maintenance worker will be assigned to on-going restoration and maintenance projects.
• Individual must be able to work well independently with little supervision.
• Projects will include planting, trimming, pruning, watering and inspecting trees and shrubs throughout the District and within the nurseries.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• This is an at-will position.
