Odyssey Charter School seeks a Greek Language Homeroom Teacher for its Immersion Program. This 10-month role reports to the Principal, Immersion School, and aligns with the current Odyssey Charter School Teacher Salary Schedule.

The ideal candidate holds a Delaware teaching license, Praxis II completion, ACTFL Greek Advanced, and immersion experience with diverse student needs. Join a growing dual-language program emphasizing Socratic learning.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid, active Delaware Teaching License and Certificate in required content area.
• Successful completion of Praxis II exams.
• Successful completion of ACTFL exam in Greek (Advanced level).
• Experience teaching Greek as a foreign/second language or any foreign language preferred.
• Elementary School teaching experience preferred.
• Immersion experience preferred.

• A global citizenship and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Teach Elementary Education students (Greek language, Math and Science).
• Collaborate with partner teachers, staff, and parents.
• Promote and train in the dual language immersion program.
• Execute day-to-day classroom operations: differentiated instruction, lesson planning, assessments, and classroom management.
• Plan a program of study meeting students' needs and monitor progress.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate progress to families.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must hold a valid, active Delaware Teaching License and Certificate in required content area in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531.
• Successful completion of Praxis II exams.
• Successful completion of ACTFL exam in Greek language (Advanced level)
• Experience teaching Greek as a foreign/second language or any foreign language is preferred
• Elementary School teaching experience preferred
• Immersion experience preferred
• Experience teaching students with diverse needs
• A global citizenship and collaborative mindset

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Effectively Teach Elementary Education students (Greek language, Math and Science)
• Desire and drive to grow as an educator, specifically in Language Immersion Models and Curriculum and Second-Language Acquisition Techniques.
• Effectively collaborate with all partner teachers, staff, and parents.
• Willingness to be trained in promoting the dual language immersion program.
• Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
• Co-lesson-plan with partner teachers, including content transfer lessons in an immersion setting if needed.
• Execute the day-to-day operations of the classroom, including engaging differentiated instruction, lesson planning, conducting student assessments, classroom management, parent communication, etc.
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Assess students' attainment level on a regular basis and provide reports as required, as well as notify parents of student progress when necessary.
• Monitor the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepare for classes assigned and showwritten evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Monitor the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, providereports as required, andnotify parents of student progress when necessary.
• Provide accommodations to students with learning disabilities on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Performother duties as assigned
