Job summary

PENN Entertainment is seeking a line cook to join our kitchen team at Ameristar Casino Hotel Vicksburg. The role involves reading orders, preparing items to standard, and maintaining clean, safe work areas in a fast-paced casino kitchen.

Applicants should have at least a high school diploma, one year of line cook experience, and strong English communication. Confidentiality and teamwork are essential. Starting pay is $12.00 per hour, with opportunities to grow within the department.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Culinary arts degree or recognized apprenticeship preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience as a line cook.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English.
• Must maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Basic reading and math skills for recipes and measurements.
• Able to work collaboratively across teams.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare a wide variety of high-volume dishes.
• Knowledge of sanitation procedures is required.

Responsibilities

• Learn and be familiar with the facility’s room outlets and be able to answer general questions about the property.
• Read food orders and prepare items according to established recipes and menus.
• Prepare all food items to the standard for quality and consistency.
• Wash, slice, and prepare foods for cooking and serving.
• Taste or pierce foods to ensure proper cooking.
• Follow health department regulations and sanitation guidelines.
• Complete prep items as written on prep sheets.
• Operate and maintain kitchen areas and equipment safely and sanitarily.
• Attend training programs and follow SOPs to ensure standards.
• Communicate with Lead Cook and Sous Chefs as needed.
