Job summary

University of West Georgia is seeking a part-time Student Assistant for the Graphic Design Lab to support two primary instructional labs (HUM 350 and HUM 348). The role provides instructional, technical, production, equipment, and administrative support to students and faculty while keeping facilities safe, organized, and functional.

You will bridge digital and analog workflows, assisting students as they move from design development to printing, fabrication, and presentation.

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of graphic design principles, including typography, composition and color.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• Portfolio demonstrating competency in fundamental design principles.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions, manage tasks, and work independently or with peers.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support to students using graphic design software and equipment.
• Assist with Mac workstations, Epson printers, scanners, and digital drawing tools.
• Support software used in the curriculum (Adobe CC, Figma, FontSelf, MS Office).
• Assist faculty with software installation, updates, testing, and basic troubleshooting.
• Aid students with digital file prep, printing, scanning, and production workflows.
• Help manage analog production equipment and student artwork storage.
• Support workshops, demonstrations, and classroom prep.
