Job summary

United Way Greater Los Angeles seeks a Director, Grants Initiatives to lead UWGLA's grantseeking and grantmaking in homelessness, education and economic mobility across Los Angeles County. This role will build a cohesive grants function, align internal teams, and promote UWGLA’s mission with funders and partners.

As a member of the leadership team, you will develop strategies to diversify funding from private, community, corporate foundations and government sources, directing a newly configured

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years proven record of working with major private foundations and funders.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Direct experience leading and managing a grants team.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills for funders.
• Experience in grantmaking and grantseeking within nonprofit or government sectors.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and direct all of the organization’s grantseeking efforts.
• Develop and oversee an organization-wide fund development plan for grant seeking.
• Oversee budgets for grant submissions and tracking of grants.
• Research prospects and cultivate relationships with local, state, and national foundations.
• Coordinate with Marketing, Evaluation and Finance teams to measure impact and reports.
• Lead and manage a grants team and provide mentorship.
• Design and implement standardized grant tracking processes and systems.
• Support cross-departmental planning and organizational strategy.
