Job summary

The Hastings Center for Bioethics is seeking a Manager of Grants and Project Support to oversee externally funded grant projects, budget development, and post-award reporting. The role coordinates across research, accounting, and advancement teams, guiding internal funding processes and donor stewardship.

We offer a hybrid work model with substantial grant- and research-related responsibility, seeking candidates able to manage complex timelines and ensure fiscal integrity across multi-year

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; related certification preferred.
• 5+ years of lifecycle research administration (proposal submission through completion).
• Experience with Grants.gov and federal grant portals.
• Experience with NIH, NSF, NEH; private funders in humanities/sciences.
• Mathematical literacy and basic accounting skills.
• Strong software skills; Excel; Zoom; project management tools.
• Demonstrated project management ability.
• Independent, proactive, detail-oriented with curiosity.

Responsibilities

• Identify funding opportunities; package and submit proposals; manage post-award activities.
• Develop budgets and budget justifications; coordinate with CFO for consistency.
• Enhance and coordinate internal proposal approval processes.
• Monitor grant-management procedures; ensure compliance with funder/audit requirements.
• Prepare subaward and vendor agreements; advise on policy updates.
• Track multi-year grants; forecast spending and reporting.
• Prepare periodic reports on research activity; communicate with leadership.
• Maintain master project tracking system and funding opportunity list.
