Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a Grants Accountant to provide essential financial reporting, grant compliance, and data management across district programs. The role supports grant managers in budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliation to ensure data integrity and program accountability.

The position partners with multiple stakeholders to prepare journal entries, monthly OSPI reports, and annual SEFA submissions, while supporting audits and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in business, accounting or related field; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Three years of accounting, bookkeeping, grants administration, or related work experience.
• Governmental accounting experience preferred.
• Certification in WASBO Accounting courses preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as financial point person for grants; assist grant managers with budgeting and setup.
• Prepare journal entries for grant expenditures and ensure compliance.
• Review journal entries and analyze grants for overspend/underspend.
• Create monthly grant expenditure reports for OSPI and prepare state apportionment journal.
• Prepare GL reconciliations and budgets for board reports.
• Prepare SEFA and assist with SAM recertification and audits.
• Support audits with requested financial and compliance documentation.
• Maintain data integrity across internal systems.
