Job summary

Sound Transit is hiring an Accountant II in Seattle to manage accounts receivable and federal grant accounting functions. You will handle reimbursements, ensure regulatory compliance, maintain records, and prepare invoices and reports.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and at least three years of experience. The position emphasizes accurate financial reporting, strong analytical skills, and collaboration across departments to meet deadlines and maintain

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Three years of accounting experience.
• Public accounting and/or governmental accounting preferred.
• Equivalent education/experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Control and monitor assigned accounts to ensure accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with procedures; prepare moderately complex journal entries.
• Develop and maintain spreadsheets and queries to support reconciliations and data analysis; perform integrity checks on accounting records.
• Collaborate with other divisions to gather data for research and reporting; provide analyses to management.
• Identify trends, recommend actions beyond scope of responsibilities, and assist with training for internal customers.
• Support development and implementation of new or revised accounting systems and processes.
• Stay informed on federal, state, and local regulations affecting the Agency.
