Job summary

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is recruiting a Grants Monitoring Specialist to support the finance team and ensure compliance with federal grant provisions. Responsibilities include analyzing allocations, reimbursements, and sub recipient compliance while maintaining thorough documentation and contributing to budget modifications.

Successful candidates will have knowledge of federal grant processes, strong communication skills, and proficiency with MS Excel/Word; teleworking options

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal grant reimbursement processes (ESEA/ESSA/IDEA/CCDBG).
• Knowledge of federal laws and regs for local school divisions and grantees.
• Experience with Oracle Financials general ledger and payables; web-based systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with government, officials and external partners.
• Ability to use Microsoft 365, especially Excel and Word.
• Ability to apply financial, accounting and auditing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with post-award financial provisions of grant funds.
• Analyze allocations and reimbursements for sub recipients.
• Verify sub recipient compliance with federal policies and grant provisions.
• Ensure payments are processed accurately per regulations.
• Analyze budgets/expenditures and advise on modifications.
• Maintain complete, accurate documentation for spreadsheets/procedures.
• Assist with or manage special projects as directed by Grants Manager.
• Provide timely technical assistance with accurate information.
