Job summary

Manning Personnel Group, Inc. partners with a dynamic non-profit in Boston to recruit a Grants Manager who will oversee the full lifecycle of competitive grant programs, from proposal development to pre- and post-award compliance.

The role requires coordinating with program staff and external funders. The Grants Manager will lead grant vetting discussions, develop budgets with Finance, track submissions, maintain funder relationships, and prepare reports for renewals, ensuring accurate records

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional training in nonprofit administration, public health, or grants management a plus.
  • At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in grants or program administration, preferably within a healthcare, foundation, university, or nonprofit setting.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat; comfort learning new systems and digital tools.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with individuals across cultures, disciplines, and organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Write clear, compelling grant proposals and funding materials aligned with the organization’s mission, goals, and programs.
  • Identify and research grant funding prospects from state and federal government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sources.
  • Lead grant vetting discussions with senior leaders.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Development on grant budget development.
  • Ensure grant proposals and funding materials are submitted on time and comply with all requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with funders, including program officers and other key decision-makers.
  • Summarize and track data on grant submissions and awards in departmental database.
  • Maintain accurate records of all proposals, submissions, and grant awards.
  • For multi-year awards, collaborate on required reports and renewal applications by deadlines.
  • Collaborate with department teams on communications, site visits, marketing activities, and funder events.
  • Participate in annual community needs assessments and other needs assessments and case statements.

Job description

MPG is partnering with a dynamic non-profit seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Grants Manager to support the full lifecycle of competitive grant programs. This role plays a pivotal part in coordinating proposal process, overseeing pre and post-award compliance functions and liaising with grantors. This position requires a strong grasp of the grants workflows, and the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the members of the Development Department, the Grant Writer/Grant Manager will:
  • Write clear, compelling, and persuasive grant proposals and other funding materials in alignment with organization’s mission, goals, and programs
  • Identify and research grant funding prospects from state and federal government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sources
  • Lead grant vetting discussions with senior leaders
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department, Development Department, and Grant Leads on grant budget development
  • Ensure grant proposals and other funding materials are submitted on time and comply with all requirements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with funders, including program officers and other key decision-makers
  • Summarize and track data on grant submissions and awards in departmental database
  • Maintain accurate records of all proposals, submissions, and grant awards
  • For multi-year awards, collaborate with Manager of Grants Administration and program staff managing the funded project to complete and submit required reports and/or applications for continued/renewal funding by required deadlines
  • Collaborate with department team on communications site visits, marketing activities, and other events related to maintaining funder relationships
  • Participate in the preparation annual community needs assessment and other needs assessments and case statements as assigned
  • Participate in the execution of the Development Department’s overall philanthropy strategy

Required Qualifications
