Kodiak Area Native Association (KANA) is seeking a Grants Specialist to identify, pursue, and secure grant funding for community programs. This role oversees the full grant lifecycle from research to post-award administration, requiring strong organization and advanced written/verbal communication skills.

The position focuses on developing competitive proposals, ensuring compliance, and coordinating with program staff.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and 2+ years in grant writing/management or related work.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing.
• Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Supports mission, goals, and quality standards while upholding core values.
• Builds and maintains relationships with funding agencies, Tribal councils, and partners.
• Monitors grant portals and opportunities aligned with priorities; shares with staff.
• Facilitates pre-application planning meetings to establish timelines and roles.
• Collaborates with staff to write and edit high-quality grant proposals.
• Ensures proposals are accurate, responsive to scoring, and compliant with guidelines.
• Prepares supporting documentation and letters of support as needed.
• Maintains records to support grant management and compliance.
• Supports post-award activities, reporting, and close-out tasks.
• Works with federal/state/tribal partners to support grant administration.
