Job summary

Ashland Theological Seminary seeks a Seminary Grants Finance & Compliance Manager to lead finance operations across the ATS Grants portfolio, collaborating with the Program Director and university partners to strengthen financial performance and compliance.

The role designs and launches a rural microgrants mechanism, ensuring audit-ready reporting and robust risk management for subgrantees, vendors, and key stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of grants financial management or nonprofit finance experience.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with oversight ability.
• Experience building or improving financial systems and workflows.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with grant management software.
• Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly financial projections, burn-rate analyses, and reconciliations across the portfolio.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and ensure practices meet controls and award terms.
• Design and launch a microgrants mechanism to issue 70+ awards annually; configure software and processes.
• Provide oversight and monitoring of subgrantees, microgrants, and vendors; manage risks.
• Manage leverage commitments across the portfolio ($2M) and verify matches in real-time.
• Offer training on compliance and financial best practices to staff and partners.
